Bridge Café was established in the year 2000, the current owner/operator Rebecca Algie noticed a gap in the Tararua area for a quirky café offering quality & unique homemade food.
So in May 2011 the 22 year old took the leap, purchased the café business and landed steadily on her feet. She ventured into business on a shoe-string budget but with plenty of help and support from friends and family her dreams are now reality. With an adventurous attitude and the endeavour to succeed Rebecca worked away at creating an already established café into a fresh, new and exciting spot to visit with real country character.
Rebecca’s philosophy is simple: she believes in offering fresh, quality, healthy food that is good value for money. With a little bit of creativity, Rebecca and the team in the kitchen add an innovative touch to traditional recipes, they are absolutely committed to supporting local suppliers and believe that it’s the little things in life that really count.
The building was originally built for a homestead and tea rooms in 1993, Rebecca’s father; Bob Algie constructed the building from Cameron Horne’s church style plans with recycled materials and native timber. This gives the Café a very rustic, homely feel and creates a striking venue for weddings and functions.
